Species of bat never before recorded in Gibraltar discovered at northern end of the Rock
A species of bat never before recorded in Gibraltar has been discovered at the northern end of the Rock.
A young male Geoffroy’s bat was recovered by the Department of the Environment and identified by specialists at the National Museum.
It was ringed for monitoring purposes before being released later that evening.
Further monitoring will now be carried out to better understand its movements and presence on the Rock.
