The Government has received around five hundred e-mails regarding registration on the European Union's Entry Exit System.

To its knowledge over 70 Gibraltar residents have requested to be removed from the system with many deemed to have exhausted their permitted 90 days in Schengen.

The Government has confirmed to GBC that the email to write to to request removal from the EES is policianacional.dpd@policia.es

This follows a technical notice issued yesterday saying Gibraltar residents incorrectly registered on the Schengen System will have to contact the authorities in the Schengen country themselves.

Christine Vasquez asked Deputy Chief Minister Joseph Garcia at what level discussions had taken place.

And there's a new online tool to help those affected. It can be found on gibraltarbites.com.  The recently launched website answers everyday questions about Gibraltar, from the border and the treaty to living here and visiting.

Users fill in their details, and the tool completes the Government’s template letter, addresses it to the right Schengen authority and opens it ready to send from their own email account.

The site claims no information is stored.
