Vehicles to bypass frontier loop as from midnight, with two new direct lanes to enter Spain

As from midnight tonight, vehicles will be able to drive directly into Spain via two lanes without having to use the frontier loop.

New road signs and markings will guide traffic along the new route. 

The loop will remain in place, closed off by moveable barriers which can be removed during periods of heavy traffic.

Speaking in Parliament, the Chief Minister also revealed that discussions are under way about potentially turning the area into a public transport interchange, linking services between Gibraltar and Spain.
